2010 Fredericksburg Committee Reorganization and Membership

As specified in the Virginia Democratic Party Plan, each local committee reorganizes every two years at the end of the odd-numbered year, carrying over into the beginning of the even-numbered year. Persons wishing to become or remain members of the city committee need to file a form with the chair.

Section 8 of the Virginia Democratic Party Plan[1] lays out the requirements for this biennial reorganization. For the 2010 - 2011 term, because the city committee's bylaws[2] do not specify any upper limit for the size of the committee, the State party has allowed the city to cancel its caucus and accept all properly-filed membership applications.

Persons wishing to become or remain members should download the membership form, and return the completed and signed form via e-mail to the FDC chair or via postal mail to the city's PO box:

  Fredericksburg Democratic Committee
  P. O. Box 1261
  Fredericksburg, VA 22401

The committee requests that persons filing for membership pay a voluntary $10 fee to cover administrative costs. Once elected, the committe asks members to pay voluntary annual dues of $20.

The deadline for submiting the forms is the start of the January committee meeting, to be held at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, 20 January 2010, at:

  Central Rappahannock Regional Library
  Conference Room 1
  1201 Caroline Street
  Fredericksburg VA 22401

Following the certification of filed membership forms, all newly-certified members will be eligible to vote in the electionn of officers for the 2010 - 2911 term. Former chair, Scott Walker, will preside over this election, assisted by Walt Sheffield as parliamentarian.
