Eyes on the Prize
As we move through the final week before the election, here are a couple
of things each of us can do to contribute toward victory for Jim Webb,
Shawn O'Donnell, and the people of Virginia:

Every voter can help in one or more of the following ways:
- Talk up the importance of the election among friends, neighbors, co-workers, family, church members, etc. Let them know that their votes are crucial in making this election a "watershed" event in returning our country to sanity and core values.
- Ensure that they know that Jim Webb and Shawn O'Donnell are their candidates, and point them to resources which help inform them about the two men.
- Get them to read both paragraphs of Amendment #1, and ask them to vote against it .
- Inform those who are eligible (those who commute, especially) about the option of voting absentee: each registrar must be open for at least eight hours on Saturday for in-person absentee voting .
- Offer to help folks with logistics (driving, babysitting, etc.) to get to the polls or to the registrar.
- Put bumper stickers (see below) for Webb, O'Donnell, and against Amendment #1 on your cars.
- Put up yard signs (see below) for Webb, O'Donnell, and against Amendment #1 in front of your house (or in the windows of your apartments).
- Volunteer[6] to help canvass voters at a polling place on election
day, or to help drive voters. Your local committee chairs are:
- Dan Smolen, Stafford, chair@stafforddemocrats.org
- Dick Toye (vice chair), Spotsylvania, dicktoye@adelphia.net
- Helene Kelly (vice chair), King George, rjkelly@starpower.net
- Tres Seaver, Fredericksburg, chair@fredericksburgdem.org
On to victory!
Note: Signs and stickers are available in limited quantities on the back porch of Ron Smith's home, 1318 William Street (corner of Daniel and William, across from St. Mary's).
